Honor the Pause

The time has arrived, to honor the sweet pause between this and that. As the festivities of the Yuletide wind down and the revelations of the year take root in fond reflection, we pause in honor of both this and that. Despite our tendency to prefer certain moments over others, all are sacred, and integral to our journey. Though we may have escalated to a rush in our holiday fervor, this is a wonderful time to begin again. The energetic build up that surrounds us as we mount up to major holidays, like Christmas, often slumps drastically once the day has come and gone. As many pivot to make the shift, the celebrations of the New Year hang very close on the horizon. In balance, we learn to nurture these shifts simply by honoring. them.

Rest.

Slowing down, allowing our breath to once again deepen and lengthen, we pull back from the skittering momentum and grant our energy the space that it needs to stabilize. Grounding back  down into the now with reverence, we remind ourselves that being is our most naturally revered state. And that’s all that we really have to do; Be. Slow and steady, we return to balance and resume our dance with life in a more mindful rhythm. The rejuvenation of a new year draws near, but not quite here. There is no need to hurry it along. It will come, in perfect timing.

Though we can glimpse its potential, we can also accept that it is not quite time to act. Now is a time muse, reflect, dream, and to deliberate softly and intimately as our energy settles and restores us to equilibrium for whatever comes next. Within this space, we honor all that has happened to deliver us here. Calling ourselves back to the now. We pause, accepting with grace one of life’s natural intermissions. THIS is the miracle of life, and the embodied essence of what our journey is made of.

“Flow with whatever may happen and let your mind be free:

Stay centered by accepting whatever you are doing.

This is the ultimate.”

Chuang Tzu

Reflect.

Past and future hold many a wonderful thing indeed, but now, is the present. Respectfully accept the gift. Honor it with pause. During this interlude provide respite. Let us each honor this space to sink in to the voyage, fully aware, fully content, and fully present. Dream through the wisdom of introspection and gratitude. Let your heart and mind catch up, or slow down, to meet back in the neutralizer the body. Settle back into balance. Life unfolds in every moment, whether we are paying attention to it or not, but joy blooms mindfully in moments free of scurry, worry, and preoccupation.During this beautiful week of passage from one thing to the next,  choose to wrap yourself in the tenderness of the past, relax into the potential of the future, and revel in the truths of the present with patience.

Release.

This is a week of retreat. A celebration of faith, wisdom, & appreciation. Here, for the briefest little while, we wait, breathe, and allow all to be just as it is. Cozy up into the transition. Celebrate with the awareness that these days, these moments are pivotal in their own rite; not just obstacles to hurl ourselves through begrudgingly to meet the ego’s next shining occasion that tries to dominate your consciousness. This, like all others, is our time to witness and honor every truth that threads through the fabric of our existence. Every moment given its full dignity makes every “this” as miraculous an experience as the next “that.”

Self-Affirmation:

This time is gift.

Only in balance can appreciate all life’s risks and rewards.

I can be here lovingly, with great dignity and awareness,

and let all be  gloriously joyful, just as it is.

Here exists the blessings between all this and that.

That is more than enough.

Honor the pause in  awe of all this that is right now. Celebrate all that came before or may bloom into being after, in rich, smooth, soothing silence. Witness the state of your breath, mind, and body, right now with love. Feel the texture of the air around you with gratitude, and slip silently into the beauty of this very moment, for you will never experience the exact same one again. Embrace the balance available to you here and celebrate it with joy.
