How Yoga Compliments The Holidays

I know we’re all really busy this time of year, but yoga compliments the holidays in more ways than you can count. It’s common for people to turn their awareness away from aspects of health, nutrition, and fitness over the holidays, but it doesn’t serve us well. Long-term change unfolds when we integrate what we’ve learned into what’s in front of us. In other words, see if you can allow your practice to work for you, instead of falling back into behaviors that no longer serve you well.  This year, start a new tradition. Allow your practice to deepen your joy and festivities. Sticking with what fills you up, helps you to be more present with your experience, and with all of your loved ones.

How Yoga Can Help

Yoga compliments the holidays because it offers you the opportunity to keep self-care at the forefront of your daily activities. Slow down. Sit with yourself. Check-in and make sure your cup is full before turning your awareness to others. Remember, self-care isn’t selfish. Additionally, even if you really can’t make it to your mat, maybe now is the time to indulge in the other aspects of your practice. Sink into some philosophy before bed.

  • Less Stress
  • More Energy
  • Better Sleep
  • Mindfulness
  • First order of business = Gratitude.

Go ahead, sit with yourself for a few minutes every day and consider: Am I living my principles, or getting swept up in old patterns? Observe what you really need each day, and make that your first priority. Sink into the joy of the season by letting go of the extremes of the past. Let your yoga help you find the middle way and live a balanced life, even when the season is bustling.
