Perspective is Pliable

We assume that the way that we see things, is the way that it is, but perspective is pliable and we serve ourselves best when we get some. What’s going on in your life today? How are you taking it? Is there anything that you can take or make in a different way to prevent it from arresting your joy? It doesn’t matter what the situation is, IT IS ALWAYS open to interpretation and different points of view. This is why we experience ‘rub’ or friction in disagreements with other people. We’re all coming to the table with a different vantage point in tow.  The good news, you can change your mind is you want to.

Are we the Victims, or the Purpose?

This rapid-paced frenzy called ‘normal’  life is bound to overwhelm. Our world runs on work, routines, and the go-go-go to keep up with EVERYTHING. It’s easy to get confused and reactive. To reemdy this, we need to take a beat and re-evaluate what’s happening.  In other words, autopilot and awareness don’t really go hand in hand.  Life boils down to your point of view (P.O.V.). It doesn’t matter who you are, the way that you experience life is swayed by your perception. Kinda fun to think about, huh? The thing is, when you’re in an uncomfortable spot, turning inward can lend clarity. Before reacting on impulse, step back and witness what’s actually happening. What are you thinking? What are you feeling? Why does it matter? How can you respond to this in a way that 1)allows you to feel your feels, but 2) doesn’t keep it labeled as a crisis?

Nurturing Your Interior Life

First, you have to notice. Get quiet, take it all in until your thoughts & emotions clear out. The capacity to notice and process the migrations of your emotional body, is what we call, “emotional intelligence” in which your conscience plays a driving part.  In yoga, we call it “your higher self”. No matter what you call it, observing the YOU inside of that walking, talking, vessel that you use to walk around in society, yields insight into the inner workings of your current perspective. So, what’s the big about that? Well, here sits INCREDIBLE power. When you’re in-tune, you start responding to life, in line with your conscious values, instead of reacting out of your prior conditioning. Next, you just have to practice.

5 Quotes to Kickstart Your Perspective

“Life is 10 percent what you make it and 90 percent how you take it.”

“Dream delivers us to dream, and there is no end to illusion. Life is like a train of moods like a string of beads, and, as we pass through them, they prove to be many-colored lenses which paint the world their own hue. . . . ”

― Ralph Waldo Emerson

“It is a narrow mind which cannot look at a subject from various points of view.”

― George Eliot, Middlemarch

“No man has the right to dictate what other men should perceive, create or produce, but all should be encouraged to reveal themselves, their perceptions and emotions, and to build confidence in the creative spirit.”

― Ansel Adams

“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.”

― Carl Jung

Final Thoughts

Lastly, you have a decision to make. At the end of the day, we have a choice in each moment to alter view of the situations at hand. Now that we know that perspective is pliable are we going to keep it closed off and running on autopilot? Or, are we going to slow down a bit, and open ourselves up to seeing it from a different way? Be mindful my friend. Much about life is changeable, starting with you and your innocently pliable perceptions. For now, mix it up, and consider things from a different view. You may just find yourself transformed; a little self-study goes a really long way!
