The truth is always that there’s more to the story than what you see. As we move through life, it’s easy to get caught up in our own perspectives. To forget that there is always more to the story than what we see on the surface. Whether it’s the story of our own lives or the lives of those around us, there is always more depth, nuance, and complexity than what meets the eye. Yogic philosophy teaches us that everything is connected and that the universe is constantly unfolding in ways that are beyond our understanding. As we begin to see ourselves and others through this lens of interconnectedness, we can start to cultivate a more profound sense of compassion and understanding.
Themes & Threads IRL
Today marks the last day of National Library Week and the end of a wonderful celebration of all things literary. This year’s theme of “There’s more to the story” has resonated with me deeply. It serves as a reminder that there is always more to any story than what meets the eye.
“Compassion is the ultimate expression of your highest self”
– Russell Simmons
Look Through A Compassionate Lens
When we realize there is always more to the story than what we observe, we can start letting go of our preconceptions and judgments and opening ourselves up to new perspectives. By doing so, we can deepen our connections with others and with the world around us. This is how we honor the complexity and beauty of life.
“Compassion is the keen awareness of the interdependence of all things.”
– Thomas Merton
This Is The Way
So how can we cultivate this sense of compassion in our lives? One way is through the practice of yoga and mindfulness. By bringing awareness to our bodies and breath, we can learn to quiet our minds and open ourselves up to new ways of seeing and understanding. Through this process, we can learn to let go of our ego-driven desires and connect more profoundly with the world around us.
“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.”
– The Bhagavad Gita
A Celebration of Life
As we celebrate the interconnectedness of all things, remember to honor the complexity and depth of the stories that shape our lives. By embracing compassion and understanding, we can deepen our connections with ourselves and others and cultivate a greater sense of peace and harmony in our lives.
