Yoga FAQs

Let me answer some of the most common Yoga FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and introduce you to a system of practices near and dear to my heart. Yoga is a system for personal connection and development. Movement is essential, but it’s not just about the body. Whether you’re practicing in a studio or in your living room, yoga is a spectrum of mind-body practices. Undoubtedly, you will stretch and work out with an increased awareness of mental-physical-spiritual connection but what you take from the practice is up to you. First things first, explore what is available to you.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

For knowledge seekers: continue checking out our content and see where that naturally takes you.

For hands-on, active practice: find a yoga studio in your local area, sign up for a class online, or hop over to YouTube.

WHAT SUPPLIES DO I NEED?

All yoga classes are a bit different. Most studios and private teachers will provide everything that you will need but I always recommended calling to check. A mat is usually plenty to get you started.

I’M JUST LOOKING FOR A TEACHER TO DO A ONE-TIME SESSION WITH. DO YOU DO THAT?

We don’t offer individual sessions at this time. Check with your favorite studio.

WHAT ARE TYPICAL RATES?

Group and other public yoga classes can be found in ranges from FREE to $30.

Specialty workshops are frequently priced between $25-$75.

Private yoga rates are comparable to private psychotherapy rates, which can range from $35 – $125 per hour.

I’VE NEVER DONE YOGA BEFORE. IS THIS FOR ME?

Yes! In fact, the only way to really know if yoga is for you is to get out there and start exploring! In today’s market, there is sure to be something out there that speaks to you.

I HAVE AN INJURY/ILLNESS/DISABILITY. CAN I DO YOGA?

Yoga is accessible to people with a wide range of health conditions.

HOW DO I KNOW IF A TEACHER IS REPUTABLE?

Ask around. Facebook is often a great place to start. Find a teacher that will discuss your specific needs ahead of time to ensure that you are a good fit for their offered services.

If they are not a good fit, most will recommend other local providers better suited to ensure your safety, progress, and satisfaction.

NOW WHAT?

Take it all in, in balance. There is no rush. With yoga, there’s more, and not all of it will resonate. And that’s okay. If you’re interested in delving a bit deeper, Visit: Creating Your Practice and jump right in!
